2015 FIFA Womens World Cup Goal of the Tourney so far! Maren Mjelde of Norway

I was watching this game live to see if my prediction of Norway giving Germany ALL it could handle would come true.  People forget Norway won the World Cup in 95.  This proud nation knows how to compete and win.

We have seen all manner of free kicks from this spot that HAVE NOT been on frame much less hit a post.  So, when Maren Mjelde struck a brilliant ball from 19 yards out that went over the wall and bended and came down in the upper 90 of the left post, I literally leapt off the sofa and shouted oh my goodness gracious!

By far, the best goal I have seen which is not all of them.

This is why I am watching….these women are GOOD!

Brief thoughts on USA v SWE tonight

USA V SWE tonight for an epic battle featuring ex USA Coach, Pia Sundhage, who now coaches for her home country.  She knows these US players well.  I expect a very close match!  Frankly, all I want is to see a great football match no matter who wins.  Do I want the USA to win?  YOU BETCHA.

Brief thoughts on USA v AUS

Rapinoe’s 2 goals! She is MVP of that match, easily. Great opening win on which to build momentum for tonite. Hope Solo is the world’s best GK. Two crucial saves (both brought me out of my seat at the Greene Turtle Towson) that could have seen the US down 3-1 at half.  Heard at the table….”I wish she was more likable off the pitch but I LOVE her in the goal.”  I hope she grows as a human off the field.  She needs help and I pray she gets it. Bring home the Cup, Hope and use that great name of yours (hope) to help others.  We are cheering for you, Hope.
