2019 FIFA WWC quick thoughts

  1. FRANCE IS VERY GOOD – They are my pick to hoist the trophy on July 7th. Why? Eugenie Le Sommer will probably take home the Golden Boot. What I noticed about her that separates her from the rest is the TIMING and acceleration of her runs in the attacking third. She is instinctive, intuitive and most important….she FINISHES.
  2. The trio of Le Sommer, Renard (why do I think Casablanca!) and Thiney are vets poised to lead this team in pressure packed situations.
  3. VAR – It will and already has had a major impact thru the two games I have seen. But I LIKE it! They are getting calls right in my opinion and it’s long overdue. Now, if they can just speed up the reviews. I do think it will result in more scoring which everyone will love.
  4. ADA HEGERBERG – What I do know about her position on NOT competing until her national team upgrades the standard to meet the mens is admirable. She is using her voice to bring equality as are the USWNT. Fight on Ada. You have my honor and respect.
  5. Katy Nesbitt! – The near side official for Norway v Nigeria is a Towson University chemistry professor! Make us proud, Katy. Have fun!
