We chatted with head coach Steve Nichols for an hour yesterday on the field as we got to watch this incredibly talented group of young men. There is no shortage of skill sets or depth on this year’s squad which is the Patriot League Preseason #1 pick. This team has a chance to be very special. The goals are set and they are Patriot League tourney champs with a trip to the NCAA’s.
The big question facing the Hounds is can they mentally mature to handle any setbacks. The talent is there. Team sports require chemistry, leadership and a united spirit. (See Colgate’s run last year…amazing!)
Mickey Watson is the heart and soul of this team. He is a leader. (He has earned my respect with his all out play.) Will young guns Saramago and Sharifi join him in uniting this team? Let’s find out.
